The illustration of the cover page of the magazine La maison rustique shows in the foreground, farming and cattle breeding, which can be considered as appropriate for a publication dealing with agricultural topics. In the background, one can see a village with wind mills. Industrial and agro-industrial revolutions are not yet perceptible.

One year later, the same magazine changed completely its cover.

In the foreground, one can see a heterogeneous set up of threshing machines, scythes, retorts, hives and books. In the middle of the cover, a well organized farming field is represented. In the background, a railroad and a balloon crown the landscape.
Science and industry indicate the change from agricultural times up to agro-industrial times.
