The Netherlands
A highly industrialized agriculture with high productivity

Agriculture in The Netherlands is one of the most intensive and industrialized of the world.

With only 1.6% of the land surface used for agriculture, this country alone provides 8% of the agricultural production of the European Union. Its population density is one of the highest on the planet (740 inhabitants per km²). Nevertheless, despite its meager agricultural space, The Netherlands is the 3rd largest exporter of agro-food products in the world.

Une agriculture de haute technologie gérée par des agriculteurs formés et informés This type of agriculture, based on high technology, is managed by educated and well-informed farmers, backed up by outstanding agronomic research. Dutch farmers stand together: cooperative activity supports 60% of the income from agriculture. They are well organized from the commercial standpoint, in order to export Dutch products all over the world.

Une agriculture polluante But the intensity of production leads to pollution which today raises real concern. Dutch cultivated land remains the most expensive in Europe and the need is high: The Netherlands is also a country that exports farmers.
